Beth Block Travel Grant – First Year students only

Call for entries: Beth Block Travel Grant

This grant is to honor and continue the work of Beth Block, class of 2001. Her photography explored fleeting, everyday experience in a soulful, riveting manner. Beth’s choices and sensibilities lent depth and support to her keen photojournalistic approach, allowing the viewer access to the intimacies she seemed to share with her subject matter. Beth’s blend of artistic and documentarian style spoke to the universal condition. Her iconic images are found in museums and private collections.

The award supports students in their first year, or second year of the three-year program, in the MFA Photography, Video and Related Media department at the School of Visual Arts, and is intended to be used as a travel stipend to support the investigation of “real world” issues the summer before their Thesis year.

The 2013 award will be in the amount of $1750, supported through the Beth Block Foundation.

To apply, please email the following:

1. Between 8 and 10 sample images of current work

2. A one-page summary of your proposed project

3. Itemized estimated travel expenses (flight, hotel, other travel, etc.)

4. A short bio and resume/CV with preferred contact information

Applications must be received by April 1st, 2013.
