Faculty are selected in order to maintain a strong balance, in point-of-view and in deference to varying needs, interests, and approaches to creative expression. If a critique class is taught by an exemplary post-modernist, another is taught by a similarly esteemed modernist. Technical courses are constantly evolving alongside media while, at the same time, critical historical discourses and emerging contemporary issues are forever inspiring new academic courses. Throughout a student's matriculation, emphasis is put on critical standards that are based upon a full understanding of the history of photography, its relation to social and technological history, as well as an innate grounding in the practice of fine art.
