The Leo S. Rowe Pan American Funds

This organization grants student loans to persons from Latin American and Caribbean countries. The loans are of a supplementary nature, without interest, repayable within a term of, at most, fifty-three months after completion of the studies or research program for which the loan is granted. Students may apply for a loan to cover expenses directly related to their studies or emergencies not covered by their principal sources of financing.

The Black Rock Arts Foundation grants artists or artist collectives that create inter-active artworks destined for communities in the world at large. Average grant will be between $2,500 and $5,000.

Katrina Media Fellowship: Open Society Institute

The Katrina Media Fellowships will support dynamic print and radio journalists, photographers and documentary filmmakers to generate and improve media coverage of issues exposed by Katrina. The fellowship term is one year and is a one-time competition and will not be offered in subsequent years. OSI expects to award 12 – 15 fellowships in mid-May 2006. Fellows will receive between $15,000-$35,000. The fellowship term begins June 15, 2006. Applicants must be mid-career or veteran print or radio journalists, photographers, or documentary filmmakers with proven track records as serious media-makers. Application and supporting materials due 5PM EST on Friday, March 31, 2006.

CONTESTS
The AAF Prize for Fine Arts

Each year, The AAF Prize for Fine Arts (formerly The Daisy Soros Prize and The Hayward Prize) offers US fine arts graduate students, or those who have completed their graduate studies within the past two years, the opportunity to study at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts Salzburg in Austria. The AAF Prize for Fine Arts is funded through the generosity of AAF trustee Gerhard Seebacher and his wife Angelika. The fellowship covers Summer Academy tuition, up to $1,000 of travel reimbursement, accommodation in Summer Academy’s approved student housing, and a small pocket money stipend.

Honickman First Book Prize in Photography

This biennial prize offers publication of a book of photography, a $3,000 award, and inclusion in a traveling exhibition of prizewinners. Duke University Press will publish the book in association with CDS Books of the Center for Documentary Studies. The prize, offered in collaboration with The Honickman Foundation, is open to American citizens of any age who have yet to publish a book-length work.

25 Under 25: New American Photographers

Every five years, CDS publishes a collection of work showcasing the talent of twenty-five of America’s most promising photographers, twenty-five years old and younger. This new volume of 25 UNDER 25 will feature photographs that explore the theme “transitions”: what it means to be in-between, in flux, at odds, in a new state of being – personally, locally, nationally, or internationally.

College Video Contest: The Christophers
