Errance

My project explores nomadism in two polarized regions: Jordan and the USA. Whether living anachronistically with Bedouins under their tent in the Jordan Desert, or following American “snow birds” that flock in trailers to Slab City, California’s Mojave Desert, this urge to experience and express nomadism through my photography stems from a personal experience of the “tensions between the pulls of nomadism and the search for the feeling of home”.
Each picture exposes my own visual language and poetic investigation of the spaces and the landscapes, and the contrasts between open spaces and the intimacy of the interiors. All this indirectly reveals the differences between and my sensitivity to both places.
The project’s arch-narrative relates to the US world dichotomization against which I recognize both cultures as different but equivalent, on par, in a thought-provoking rather than dogmatic way. The dialogue between images symbolizes today’s necessary cohabitation of antagonisms.
