This year’s Video Thesis screenings,
“Re: Vision” will take place in early October at Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theatre. The program is diverse, engaging and ambitious.
Each of the eight movies carries significant content, each seeks to expand the reach of its form, each is carefully conceived and crafted. Each reflects the grounding and mission of our program.
The tools we use to create work in video are new; the language of the moving image is barely 100 years old. We are just beginning to understand its potential, to find out what’s relevant to its forms, and to develop the language. We examine video and film history. We consider and practice how video represents reality and imagination, we respect its witness and beauty.
We recognize the position that the moving image has taken in our society, and in our culture. We put to practice the belief that the medium has unique value in its ability to communicate in ways that other verbal and visual languages cannot. We’re rigorous.
